Women's Body Image in Barbados
My research paper is about how women in Barbados see themselves, and how they aspire to look physically. There aren't many issues in Barbados, so a challenge of writing this paper was finding credible sources on Barbados. Rihanna is an influencer who was born and raised in Barbados and has gone through racial and physical discrimination. I will also be discussing how body image is perceived and advertised. Along with how/ whether or not women and young girls are affected by the islands status quo. Many women from Barbados seem to have an hourglass figure, so women must aspire to have that type of body shape. As time and society changes, body types are being discussed more in Barbados, and festivals that invoke equality and the love for one's culture. I will also be discussing obesity, and how it's more accepted compared to America. Personally, culture is how a person is raised, and customs that are practiced as adolescents.
