Some things to know about Barbados

Barbados is a Caribbean island and is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. Languages spoken include English and Bajan. Surprisingly enough this island is under the rule of Queen Elizabeth 2nd, which is classified as a Monarchy. The first people to live on this island (indigenous people) immigrated from Venezuela. Eventually, the Portuguese stumbled upon this island, on the trail to Brazil. In 1625 Captain John Powell of England claimed control of Barbados, and within a couple years, it became the third Parliamentary Democracy in the world. Full independence was not granted until 1966, although the island kept ties with Britain and became a Monarchy, which is called a commonwealth. As a result, trade within this island remains stable.
